Invisalign

Close up of a bearded man putting clear aligners on his teethAre you unhappy with the way your smile looks? Are some of your teeth crooked or seem out of place? Maybe you have thought for a long time about wanting straighter teeth but hate the idea of a mouth full of metal braces that may hurt, poke, pinch, or pull at the soft parts of your mouth and be uncomfortable in general. A great alternative to traditional metal braces is a set of clear aligners known as Invisalign. If any of this sounds like you or if you would simply like to learn more and explore your options, call us here at Bravo Smile today.

What Exactly Is Invisalign?

Invisalign is a program that sets you up with an individually made set of clear plastic tray aligners. Over a course of months, the aligners slowly straighten your teeth similarly to traditional braces. There are a number of trays in each program, and you move to a different tray after a period of time (or based on our recommendation). The trays are meant to stay in your mouth almost all of the time but can be removed for certain activities such as eating or cleaning your teeth.

Invisalign trays are made of a BPA free plastic that is customized to fit your teeth and mouth. Many people believe they are more comfortable than traditional braces, and they appreciate the fact that they can be removed when you eat or need to clean your teeth. Because of this, Invisalign trays are much less likely to cause other dental problems such as cavities that can be seen when traditional braces are not kept very clean.

What Is the Process for Getting Invisalign?

If you are a candidate for Invisalign, the first step is to take impressions, pictures, or x-rays of your teeth and mouth. These will be sent to be developed into a personalized program for you that includes a set of Invisalign plastic trays. When they arrive, we will schedule an appointment to check the fit, explain the program, and answer any further questions you have. Every two weeks you will change out the set of trays to the next set in the progression. We will schedule regular appointments to ensure that the trays are working as expected and that you are not having any complications with your aligners.

You will need to be able to wear your Invisalign aligners for at least 22 hours a day. You can remove them for eating and cleaning your teeth, but they should be worn all other times. They are almost completely unnoticeable and should not affect your daily life. A program with Invisalign lasts an average of 12 to 18 months, though you should start seeing results of the program much sooner than that.

Not everyone will be eligible for Invisalign, but our trained professionals will best be able to tell you if Invisalign is a good fit for you. Most minor corrections can be helped with the Invisalign program. To learn more, or to set up an appointment at our office, please give us a call today at (971) 441-5987. Let our trained and caring professionals atBravo Smile determine if you are a good fit for the Invisalign program, and get you started on your journey today.
