Dental ExamDental exams are extremely important to your oral health, and they usually will go hand in hand with a dental cleaning. When you call our professionals at Bravo Smile to schedule a cleaning, you are scheduling an exam, as well. This appointment gives us an opportunity to check that all of your teeth - and your mouth in general - are in great shape and healthy. If you are nervous about an exam, you can rest easy:exams are not painful and are very simple. If it helps your nerves, our team can explain everything they are looking at and seeing while they examine your mouth. What Happens During An Exam?A dental exam will be done in our office every time you schedule a cleaning. If you are having other issues that involve your oral health, and wish to schedule a separate exam, we can certainly do that as well. During a checkup, our team will use sanitary practices to examine each tooth, as well as your gums and the rest of your mouth. Our professional and gentle technicians will check for cavities and any excessive plaque buildup. We will also look at your gum line against your teeth, to check for any receding or irritation that could be a sign of gingivitis. We will even examine your throat, tongue, and face to look for signs of other issues. If this is your first exam with us, we may also ask you some questions about your medical history, to ensure that we are able to take care of you and your teeth in the best way possible. If there were x-rays taken, we will also examine the x-rays and go over anything that we see with you. The bite, or alignment, of your teeth, will be checked to look at fit. And if the visit is for a child, their teeth will be examined for normal growth and development. A full exam plus a cleaning should only take between 30 minutes to an hour. By including the cleaning with the exam, we are removing plaque and tartar buildup that may restrict us from seeing issues on your teeth. The buildup can hide things such as gum disease and cavities, and cleaning your teeth allows us to see those things clearly so we can get them taken care of before they progress. Plus, you will leave our office with shiny, clean teeth and a mouth that feels like a million dollars. When Did You Last Have An Exam? You may be regular with your exams and cleanings every six months as is recommended, or it may have been a while since your last exam and cleaning. Whatever the case, is it time for you to schedule your next dental exam? Oral problems can progress quickly if they are not taken care of, and our team at Bravo Smile is ready and waiting today to stop your oral problems in their tracks. If you feel as though there is something going on with your oral health that you would like to get checked out, or if it is simply time for your next exam, call us today at (971) 441-5987 to schedule an appointment. |
